There are a number of different transactions when you’ll need a solicitor or licensed conveyancer to manage the legal side of things.
We work with Legal Marketing Services (LMS), and can refer you to them if you’re interested in using them for your conveyancing needs. LMS manage a panel of contracted law firms nationwide (all of which are on our approved panel of solicitors) and can quickly provide you with a quote.

You could also choose to use your own solicitor or licensed conveyancer instead, and if they’re on our approved panel of solicitors they can act for us too. Contact your solicitor to check whether they are on the LMS panel and then call us on 0345 300 8000* to confirm which solicitor you’d like to use.
What if your solicitor is not on our approved panel?
If they’re not on our panel we’ll need to appoint a solicitor to act on our behalf as well as the solicitor that you’ve chosen. In this case the bank will have separate legal representation. If you choose this option, please be aware that you’ll be responsible for the cost of the services provided by both solicitors. Solicitors can be added to our panel, subject to them meeting our criteria.
Please note that for some mortgage transactions we’ll pay the basic legal fees, however, we won’t cover any charges relating to additional work or leasehold properties, you’ll be responsible for all costs.
A ‘RECEIVER OF RENT’ MAY BE APPOINTED AND/OR THE PROPERTY MAY BE REPOSSESSED IF YOU DO NOT KEEP UP REPAYMENTS ON YOUR MORTGAGE
